Training Method
Advantages
- Consolidated into a single training session. (ranging from 2 - 4 weeks based on ship’s systems)
- Can be presented on-site at any U.S. port/location.
- Operators and technicians will be in the same class, which allows for interaction and cross-training
- Concentration of training allows for repetition of key topics and questions.
Disadvantages
- Training is very specific to the systems on a specific ship; may not be reasonable to combine ship’s crews
- Typical length of training (typically 2-4 weeks) is difficult on students attention span
- Length of training may create crew scheduling problems
- Cannot tailor specific levels of training to individual needs of crew and personnel
- Operators may not understand the technical information
