MIL-STD Qualification Testing Programs

Qualifications

WESCO Marine Engineering has vast knowledge & experience in the area of MIL-STD Testing. The engineers at WESCO Marine work hand in hand with the customer to design systems that meet both the functional and environmental specifications. We have successfully designed, built, tested, and certified equipment under the following MIL-STD qualifications: MIL-STD-461E, MIL-STD-167-1, MIL-STD-901D, & MIL-STD-108. All of our shock qualification programs are certified by the Naval Surface Warefare Center, Code 623 (US Navy Approval Authority).

Software

To achieve optimal performance under shock & vibration, we use modeling software to predict how a particular mounting configuration will respond in its natural shipboard environment. By using pre-defined shock & vibration profiles, the model will generate predicted directional & rotational forces in all 3 dimensions (X, Y, Z) for up to 22 user-defined points against the time domain. This tool helps to streamline the design process & provides a benchmark for actual field testing.

Click here for an example of predicted Z accelerations of points A, L, M, & P of a generic model on a 14Hz deck during the bubble pulse.

* WESCO Marine also offers all of the resources necessary to exercise the equipment during each test to simulate its real world environment. Each critical item is monitored by a remote “health monitoring system” that logs any failures that may occur as a result of the test.
